Daddy's Day Weekend

Alright, I'll give everyone a moment to recover from the shock of three posts in one week. Turning over a new leaf? Doubt it.
So on a more serious note, what a fun weekend!
On Saturday afternoon/evening, we went to Meggan's annual dance recital. Here she is with the bouquet of bright pink roses we gave her and the flower from her teacher that they got at the end of the recital.
After the recital we went to GT South's BBQ (yum), followed by Dairy Queen ice cream cake (double yum). Jer had mentioned how much he loves ice cream cakes a few weeks ago-and he thought I never listened to him...
Onto Father's Day-we had a marvelous "family day." Yes, I am totally gay, Crystal. LOL.
Lucas started the day at 5:30 am-well, Mommy and Daddy were able to stretch it until 7 am by laying him in between us. We headed to Brown County at about 8:30 am, after a quick stop at Long's Bakery for donuts for the trip. Here we are outside some of the shops in Nashville, IN (a small artist colony known for it's shops and scenery).
After lunch at the Harvest Moon pizzeria, we headed to Brown County State Park. Lucas fell asleep in less than 5 minutes and missed the drive. They have a lodge with an indoor pool, camping, lakes, trails, etc. It's a pretty cool place for future outings. I took some lame scenic pictures since the Little Dude was napping. Then we headed home to open the gifts. Lucas is helping Daddy read one of his cards here...

Here is the "DAD" picture that we had taken on the sly.
Lucas is more interested in the wrapping paper than the "I May Be Small, But I Know These Big Things" project. It's a craft project including Father's Day quotes such as "A father carries pictures where his money used to be" by Unknown and "Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope" by Bill Cosby. Yes, I came up with this one all on my own-believe it or not. :)
Lucas seems enthralled with his picture for Daddy's office-the kung fu picture from Monday's post (6/15).
Here is another picture-a collage of the "DAD" session for Jer's work. I promised him I would never do pictures again for Father's Day. He is secretly very happy about that! :)

Jer thought a little arm wrestling was in order after opening all those silly pictures. Seems more manly, right. Lucas was game.

What a ham!

Hammin' it up some more...

The end of Jer's first Father's Day. What a fun day it was!

SURPRISE!

Hello folks!
Not a whole lot has happened since my last post since for once I didn't wait a month to post again. :)

We had Girls Night Out at Carrabba's on Thursday night which was way fun. Can I say Yummy Sangrias? It was way fun to get out with the girls! You kind of forget how important hanging out with just the girls can be, especially when you get lost in the hustle and bustle of life. Anyway, tonight is Meggan's Dance Recital-I'm sure it will be extremely cute when they get up there and dance in their ballerina outfits! I'll probably cry, because that's what I do. I guess you can say it's my M.O. (Sad)

Tomorrow is Father's Day (hello, Captain Obvious). Lucas and I have been working hard on some surprises for Jer. He can't stand waiting, but he's been pretty good about it so far. Lucas and I can't wait to give him his gifts tomorrow! I'm excited to spend the day with Jer and Lucas and enjoy 24 full hours of "family time." I feel like my Mom now who tried so hard to implement Family Day (Sundays) when we were kids.

I couldn't resist uploading a few pictures from the past few days. Here we go...

The latest and greatest-beating on pans with the wooden spoon-it will keep him entertained for quite a while (woo hoo!).

I love this game...
Daddy put together my Basketball toy that Uncle Matt, Aunt Julia, Cousins Lily and Olivia gave me for Christmas. I'm thinking this is pretty cool! The basketball is pretty tasty, I tell ya.
I love my baseball toy the 'rents got me for Christmas. Is this a stick shift?
Isn't this food? I guess I'll eat it like I try to do with everything else I can get my hands on...

Talk to you later, hopefully soon right?

Forgot to Mention

12) Lucas can now sit up easily on his own, since about a month ago
13) He's starting to do a modified army crawl, but only when he really wants something

Note to my sisters-I just noticed I spelled decimated incorrectly in my last post. I just slapped myself, if that helps any.

About time

So almost 2 months later, but better than never at all. I just noticed the last time I updated was when we returned from San Antonio. Yikes. It's easier to list the things that have happened since the last post, in no particular order. A lot can happen in a couple months!
1) Jer got the Special Assets Officer position-Congrats babe!
2) Lucas "mastered" eating baby food, still loves his formula more of course
3) My back does not feel like it has significantly improved, though I'm sure it has with the twice weekly visits (whenever I can squeeze it all in)
4) Lucas has gotten two teeth and loves to suck on our arm and eat everything
5) Lucas continues to pull hair, even harder now if that's possible
6) Jer and I just finished our final date (the 10th and last for this series) and are looking forward to continuing this awesome way to connect even when we are old married folks. For this date we went to Maggiano's on the prestigious North side. A few side notes on this one:
1) Note to selves: not a place to bring young kids, we were the only losers that did. 2) Another note to selves: do not make the night you go to a fancy restaurant the only night you forgot to pack extra outfits in the diaper bag. Especially when, 3) Your son produces the absolute motherload of diapers. There was poop on me, him, the changing table, the wall, it was crazy! All in a fancy restroom, I was waiting for the talking to die down and make the escape, then fanagled my way through lots of fancily dressed couples (that didn't include us), making my way back to our table with our son in his dirty poo-stained onesie, sans shorts-they were desimated. I had a burp cloth under him to hide the poop stains on his onesie. We paid and bolted out of there. Wow-that was a great date! :) You just HAVE to just laugh at that one! We sure did!
7) Meggan's 5th Birthday came and went (can you believe she's 5)?!!!?
8) Michele and Jas went to NYC and we got to "practice" at having 3 children. It was way fun! (Disclaimer: Of course, it was only for a few days). Lesson Learned: Minivans are now awesome, even though I know I once stated you wouldn't catch me dead driving one
9) Vintage Base Ball is now in full swing, with out of town games each week in June. The last weekend in June is the French Lick trip where it is "Adults Only". Yea! This will be the longest we've been away from Lucas. It will also be a blast!
10) Jackson Dale Huisman was born on May 31st to Crystal and Jesse Huisman. He was 20 inches long and weighed in at 9 lbs. 13.8 ounces.
11) We went to visit Crystal, Jesse, and Baby Jackson the weekend after she was home from the hospital

Anyway, here are a few pics from the past couple months, again in no particular order. Enjoy!

Here he is eating baby food...

Look at me...
Ready to go to Church...

Kung Fu, anyone?

Jordan and Lucas at Meggan's 5th Birthday party over Memorial Day weekend.
The kids decided it would be awesome to dunk their heads into the water bottle tub. Hilarious...and adorable. They had a blast.
The first night while Michele and Jas were in NYC. Jer looks worn out already! :

Bath time on Friday night-rubber duckies have many purposes...

Saturday morning brings a "Sleepover at Dawny's" tradition-making muffins. They both are great helpers! Lucas "helped" by watching over his cousins from his Hop 'N Pop

The trip to Iowa to visit Crystal, Jesse and Jackson. We arrived Friday night at 11:45 pm Central time. Lucas and Jordan thought some serious play time was in order. :)

Saturday afternoon at Uncle Matt's house

Lucas with Baby Jackson

This past weekend-3 can play at this game, right?

That's "all" folks!
