Two posts in one week??? Could this be for real?

So I'm assuming it has been about a minute for you to fully recover from the shock of 2 postings in one week. Now, the good stuff.

Lucas had his 4 month doctor appointment on Tuesday morning. He measured 27 inches long and weighed a whopping 16 lbs 14 oz. They said he was in the 95th percentile for height and the 75th percentile for weight. I couldn't believe he was not in the 100th percentile for weight! What a piggy piggers! He was also the lucky recipient of several vaccines. We believe they are probably the culprit of his elevated temperature and slight crankiness over the past few days.

He was "talking" as loud as he could the entire time Dr. Gloyeske was in the room. Then, he of course thought it was hilarious to keep kicking him while he was being examined. The doctor kept laughing because he wasn't letting up for one second. He's just a happy boy. Anyway, the doctor says he looks great and seems to have a very easy going personality.

Other than that, we are looking forward to our next date. We've decided to get stuff done around the house (long overdue), then have dinner and make desert together, followed by a little drink and watching a movie together. It is supposed to be really crappy this weekend, so we thought a night in as a family would be fun! This dating stuff is pretty fun-it gives us something to look forward to throughout the week. :)

We continue to wait to hear on Jer's possible job change. We've both been praying about it and are comfortable that if it doesn't happen, God has a reason for it. :)

That's it for now. TTYL.

Surprise My Fellow Blog Followers

Can you believe it? It hasn't even been a month. Actually, it's kind of sad that I'm that proud of myself since it has been almost 2 weeks now. I am still amazed how the time flies.

Last weekend, we went on the town with Michele, Jas, Micah and Angi. It was pretty cool. Mom got to hang out with all 3 of the kids at our house since Michele and Jas were having their floors installed. Anyway, the pictures we got while Meggan and Jordan were over were priceless. First, Meggan decided she was going to be "Dawny" and wear my dress (translated my shirt that fits like a dress on her). She completed the ensemble with my knee-high brown boots (it is important to note this is usually what I wear with this shirt, only I wear jeans too). :) Another important note-said dress was held together with a trusty binder clip so Meggan was properly covered (she insisted). Then, Jordan decided to play with Lucas for a little bit. Too cute!
Here are a few of the pics.

We are honestly enjoying our lives right now. Jer and I have officially gone on our first "date" in years. This new series for Sunday School is so fun! Prior to our first date, we each individually filled out a short questionaire on when we met, our first date, first kiss, first discussion of marriage, most romantic moments-you get the point. It was great to see what each of us remembered (and forgot) about the old days. It was so much fun talking about the old times when Jer had long hair and tucked in all of his shirts and when I had bleach-blond lifeguard hair and was able to pull off shorter skirts/dresses. I can't remember the last time I thought about those days. It was a blast. We went to Olive Garden since that's where we got engaged (yes, we are total losers). We had dinner, talked about the old days, then went for a drive past Five Points on County Line Road. We discovered a new town out there that reminded us of Grundy Center, IA called Rock Lane. Who knew? There were some pretty cool houses and it was so nice out-it was truly enjoyable. Then we got back home, put the baby to bed, and enjoyed strawberries and champagne. The same kind of champagne that Jer convinced the Olive Garden servers into giving us when he proposed (I wasn't 21 yet). :) Oh, the good ol' days. Not that these days are bad...
Now that you are saying "Gag me" after the last paragraph, I shall move on. Work has gotten less stressful-I actually worked a normal week last week for the first time in years! It felt great to be home during the better part of the evening with my family during the workweek.
Lucas is continuing to be such a joy as he figures out more and more things. He discovered his feet on Friday and was absolutely amazed with them. We continue to marvel at how inquisitive he is-he loves to figure out new things and usually does so rather quickly. I was working on entering Mom's tax info/receipts on Saturday while Jer and Lucas caught some March Madness Basketball games-I guess they were especially thrilling games by looking at the picture below...

Later on, Lucas showed us how thrilled he was to be wearing his new FBI shirt (Fat, Bald and Innocent). He didn't think it was quite as funny as we did. Cruel, cruel parents-yes we know we are.

On Sunday after church, we had a great afternoon with a long nap for Lucas (and Mommy) and a great walk in the beautiful weather after Jer got home from Vintage Base Ball practice (yes, they spelled it that way in the old days). I can't believe it's already that time of the year. The weather was so nice and Lucas got to wear his sunglasses for the first time. Go Little "Shades" (Niehaus/Dew family 4th of July joke). Anyway, here's some of the awesome pics.

Tonight Lucas was going to town in the Hop & Pop (thanks, Michele and Jas!). His continually developing personality is an ever-present source of joy in our lives. We thank God every day for bringing this little blessing into our lives. Yes, I heard you all gagging again. :)

That's all folks! (For now anyway).

I was reading Michele's blog and saw she was tagged on her blog. I couldn't resist seeing what picture would result.

The tag said to open your 6th picture folder and post the 6th picture in there. The result was too cute not to post. This picture was taken on October 4th when Meggan and Jordan stayed the night. Anyway, that's it for now.

We are alive!

Hello my fellow blog followers! After being asked by three great people if I was still going to do my blog, I thought wow-it must have been a long time since I posted. I figured a month-long hiatus is long enough for you to really miss us. I'm now laughing out loud (to myself) because of course the main reasons I haven't posted in such a long time are as follows, in no particular order: 1) I signed up for, and consequently got addicted to Facebook; 2) we are crazy-busy, but seriously who isn't?; 3) work is draining my every last possibility of a free moment-for circumstances beyond my control (and beyond others' control as well); 4) every regular week is filled to the brim with stuff to be done, and 5) I just plain didn't make time for it.

Anyway, so how do you sum up a month? Since my last post, Lucas has grown even more-though that doesn't seem possible. Time is flying by and sometimes you feel like life just passes you by. I'm probably only saying that because work is draining me lately. I try to cherish every moment with my family, but it seems those "moments" are becoming increasingly fleeting lately. Okay, enough crying. I've decided with recent changes at work, I am going to conquer this recent problem by bringing work home. That way I can still spend time with my family, particularly when Lucas is still awake, yet get the work that has to be done taken care of. Luckily this situation should be for the next 2 to 3 months and is not supposed to be ongoing.

So, on to the family. Lucas now enjoys sitting up and watching everything around him. If possible, he'd actually prefer to stand and watch instead of sit and watch. He thinks he's so big! He really loves to just take everything in and smile at those that stop by to talk to him.

He also LOVES his activity gym that he got for Christmas from Grammy and Granddad! He grabs and holds on to the hanging toys and kicks the inflated ball on the activity gym and smiles and laughs while doing so. He can easily spend over a half hour and has been known to actually make one of the fish crinkle and the other fish play music without help. Of course, he gets a lot of help from his parents, too.

He also loves the Hop and Pop and can now make the lights and sound go off by turning the dial, as well as by bouncing.

He also laughs now when you play "Getcha." Decoded, that means I pseudo-tickle him and say "Mommy's going to Getcha, getcha, getcha..." I think everyone got the point there.

Let's see, he still smiles at everyone. That is, unless you do not make him a bottle the instant he decides he wants one. He also successfully rolled over onto his tummy on Monday morning-yea buddy! He's been rolling side to side and staying on one side since he was very young, but this is the first time he rolled all the way onto his belly. It surprised him and he got mad-he's not particularly fond of tummy time. It's amazing to see such a helpless infant start to develop a personality and begin to interact with his world-he is definitely a great source of joy in our lives. Anyway, that's about it for buddy boy.

As far as Jer and I--we've been continuing our Sunday School class, though we missed a few with visitors in town and then Jer being sick. We will be going back next week, where we start a series over a book entitled "10 Great Dates." This should be fun!

We are both greatly looking forward to Spring weather, Winter is dreadful!

To all of you who do read this, thanks for staying with me-I know I am not posting on an even close to regular basis. I just got done catching up on my sister's blogs from the past month or so-how pathetic is that?!? I am seriously going to make an attempt to do this more often. So here's to me actually posting another blog before April 10th. I'm not placing any bets though...

Finally, I've attached a few of our latest pictures from Sears. These were taken when Lucas was approximately 3 1/2 months old. We thought she did a great job!
