Don't Forget to Check Out My New Picture

Okay, I'm a moron-I forgot to mention to check out Lucas' 2 month picture I took the other day. That's it. Yes, I know I'm an idiot. Good night.

Is it a Fluke?

Last night Lucas slept for 8 continuous hours-yes, I repeat 8 continuous hours. The only thing I could really ask for is that the 8 continuous hours would include skipping middle of the night feedings-namely the 3:45 am feeding this morning! :)

No, seriously-I can't complain. We are both hoping this is not a fluke since we just laid him down. So, that being said he'd actually be asleep until 5:30 tomorrow morning if he had a repeat of last night. I'm crossing my fingers as I speak. :)

Since it's been a week since my last post, I can add details of the weekend. Last Friday we had a Girls' Night Out with Michele's co-workers. For some of you reading this, you may be asking how do I get invited to Michele's events? My theory is that Michele feels sorry for me that I don't have any of my own friends... I can already see her adding a comment-but I'm still not deleting what I just wrote. Especially since I want a (pity) invite to Girls' Night Out with the neighbors (Suzie and Sam)-we usually have a blast and of course the cocktails are an added bonus! :) Anyway, GNO (love my texting lingo?) was a blast!

Saturday we had Date Night since the previous weekend didn't end up working out. We spent the afternoon and evening enjoying each other's company. I have to admit it was more than kind of nice-it was very enjoyable. In fact, we agreed we need to do this more often. I'm sure this is easier said than done though!

Sunday we went to church and our second week of our new "Couples" Sunday School class. We are starting to make friends with other couples in the class and are really enjoying the meaningful discussions we get to participate in for this class. It really makes you examine your relationships-with God, with each other, and with your children. Pretty cool! We'll see how the next few weeks go in this class. So far, so good.

Anyway, this week at work has been particularly busy and at times trying. I have to work this Saturday all day to move files, which is not exactly enjoyable. So there is my one gripe-the annual Saturday file moving day. Okay, I'm done. It's only once a year (but still sucks anyway). It will make Sunday that much more enjoyable, right?

Who Needs Shots?

And I'm not talking about the alcoholic variety! :) Those days are LOOONNNNGGG Gone! :)

Today was Lucas' 2 month doctor visit. He is a-ok according to Dr. Gloyeske. I know you are all trying to figure out the pronunciation of that one as we speak (except Michele of course, since she chose him for her kids first...).

Apparently, being a slobber bucket at two months of age isn't especially common, nor especially bothersome. Lucas loves to constantly have his hands in his mouth and drools all the time (whether his hand happens to be in his mouth or not). The doc says to watch for signs of early teething, but it could just be he discovered his hands early too.

The little buddy weighed 12 lbs 15.5 ounces today-let's just give him another bottle or two and call it 13 pounds. We never said he was a picky eater, that's for sure! But, rest assured he is in the 75th percentile for weight. He was 23 and 1/4 inches long-which is in the 50th percentile.

After all that jazz, it was time for the little guy to get two shots and one oral vaccine. The nurses being the smart people that they are decided to give him the oral vaccine first. Sweet talking him, right? Then they gave him two successive shots-you would have thought they took a sling-shot to him! He cried the painful cry and I felt bad for him. We cuddled awhile and he was good to go! :) Anyway, we got through the second round of shots, with many more to go. :)

Sleeping Through The Night?

Well I woke up this morning at 5:45 am to Lucas fussing. I looked at the clock and almost crapped my pants! He slept from midnight to almost 6! He had last ate at 10 pm-that's 8 blessed hours between feedings. Hallelujah!

Now we're just praying (and praying and praying) that this is not a fluke. We spent Saturday hanging out around the house and then went to see Meggan get her ears pierced-she didn't even cry! Unbelievable, I know I did when I got mine done. Meggan went to hang out with Grandma and her kitties and the adults and Jordan hung out the rest of the night playing Wii. Sunday we went to church followed by Cheesecake Factory (yeah, we're terrible). We had our neighbors over on Sunday evening which was a real good time. They have a son whose about 18 months old-so it was cool to chat. Yes, we are just boring old folks now... :)

Blogging Timeout

I am officially on blogging timeout. Why you ask? Well, that would be because my blogging hiatus that I referred to in my last post has now lasted 2 weeks! Wow, I just can't believe how quickly time passes. It seems like just yesterday when we started our Tour de Midwest trip...

Anyway, I had every intention of blogging when we got back from our trip a week ago and things just kept coming up. Our trip to Iowa and Missouri was very enjoyable-it was great to see family and friends and enjoy the holidays. I will add that Lucas made it particularly easy since he loves his carseat and virtually slept the entire time we were traveling to each destination-sweet! Getting back to my original topic, I really wanted to write on RTW Eve (that would be translated as Return To Work Eve), but like usual the day got away from me. I feel like I'm explaining myself to the teacher after getting in trouble at school. :)

RTW Eve was a particularly trying evening, which we cured by watching The Dark Knight, the new Batman movie that Jer got for Christmas. Mom came over and we had Grilled Cheese and Floatin' 'Roni soup (translated: tomato soup with elbow macoroni). I just realized I am slightly idiotic since I have a lot of "translations" in this blog. Floatin' Roni? It sounds like it belongs in a Jeff Foxworthy "You Might Be A Redneck" joke-but we've called it that since we were kids.

So, moving on to RTW Day. Jer and I got up at 5:45 am. Everyone who knows me at all is aware that this is quite the change for me, especially coming off maternity leave where I could sleep when I want. We got ready, I breastfed Lucas and got him ready, and we both headed to Nancy's to drop him off for his first day. I have to admit that we felt better dropping him off with Nancy (especially after seeing how Meggan and Jordan adore her) than with someone we don't know. It made the day RELATIVELY easier, but not easy by any means. So, I made it into my car and then started balling like a baby (no pun intended). I cried again on Tuesday and today, however much less than on his first day. I'm convinced it will get easier each day (at least that is what I tell myself in order to haul my rear end to the office for another 10 hour day). So far this week has been brutal thanks to an unexpected project at work in addition to walking into our year-end closing this week-welcome back, right? Don't get me wrong, I love projects-the timing of this one was just less than ideal.

Can't wait for the weekend, where we plan to spend time as a family and have a little date night (even if Lucas is present, it's still a date right?). We figure once he's mobile it may not be considered a date anymore. I'd welcome anyone's thoughts on this brilliant theory... We're also going to church and trying a new Sunday School class-yeah.

I have added some recent pictures for everyone's viewing pleasure. :)

Here's to less time until my next post-absolutely NO promises included.
